Hilda Hatcher, 85, Adair Co., KY (1929-2014)

She was one of Adair County's most admired citizens. Mrs. Hatcher was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church, a member of the Westlake Hospital Ladies Auxiliary and the Adair County Democratic Women's Club, she baked cakes and catered weddings and events for many years. She had many hobbies and interests in life but her greatest joy was that of a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was a native of Cumberland County, KY and a resident of Adair County at the time of her death. She was the daughter of the late Paul and Flossie Shelley Bruton and the widower of James Hatcher, her husband of 54 years. She leaves 24 direct living descendants.

Hilda Hatcher, 85, of Russell Springs Road, Columbia, KY, passed away Saturday, December 6, 2014 at 9:35amCT, at her home after several weeks illness.

Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, December 9, 2014 at 10:30amCT at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg Street, Columbia, KY. Rev. William Davenport and Rev. Steve Pescosolido will officiate. Interment will be in the Haven Hill Cemetery, 1276 Russell Road, Columbia, KY. The family requests visiting after 3pmCT, on Monday, March 8, 2014, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home.



Hilda Hatcher, Cumberland Co., KY (1929-2014)

She was born Saturday, September 21, 1929 in Burkesville, KY. She was the daughter of the late Paul and Flossie Shelley Bruton. She died Saturday, December 6, 2014, in Columbia, Adair County, KY, a the age of 85 years, two months, and 15 days.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, James Allen Hatcher, Adair Co., KY (1926-2011), on September 3, 2011.

Mrs. Hatcher was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church, a member of the Westlake Hospital Ladies Auxiliary and the Adair County Democratic Women's Club, she baked cakes and catered weddings and events for many years. She had many hobbies and interests in life but her greatest joy was that of a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.

Mrs. Hatcher is survived by the following:
  • One daughter: Linda Bragg & husband David of Bowling Green, KY

  • Five sons: Carl Bailey & wife Jamie Columbia, KY: Michael Hatcher & wife Wanda of Columbia, KY; Douglas Hatcher & wife Diane of Columbia, KY; Gary Hatcher & wife Terri Lynn of Columbia, KY; and Keith Hatcher & wife Ann of Russell Springs, KY

  • One brother: B. Eugene Bruton of Aragon, GA

  • Three sisters: Nelda Dockins of Louisville, KY; Betty Brown and Brenda Thrasher both of Columbia, KY

  • Twelve grandchildren

  • Six great grandchildren

  • Several nieces,nephews and a host of friends including her caregiver, Terica Derringer
Memorials are suggested to Hospice of Central KY PO Box 4134 Campbellsville, KY, the American Cancer Society 952 Fairview Avenue, Suite 4, Bowling Green, KY 42101 or Gideon Bibles.
