David Lee Shearer, Adair County, KY (1942-2014)

He was a U.S. Army Veteran serving during the Vietnam War; a member of Sparksville Baptist Church and a former welder at Majestic Yachts. He was a native of Adair County and a resident of the county at the time of his death. He was the son of the late Willie & Nellie Sullivan Shearer.Hiswife, Charlotte Kay Tackett Shearer, survives. He leaves four direct living descendants.

David Lee Shearer, 72, of Columbia, died Monday, December 1, 2014 at 7:55pmCT at his home.

Funeral services will be Friday, December 5, 2014 at 12pm noon CT, at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home, 200 Campbellsvillle Street, Columbia, KY, with Bro. Darrell Landis officiating. Burial in Haven Hill Cemetery, 1276 Campbellsville Street, Columbia, KY, with full military honors presented by VFW Post 6097. Visitation after 5pmCT, Thursday, at the funeral home.



David Lee Shearer, Adair County, KY (1942-2014)


He was born September 17, 1942, in Adair County, KY. He was he son of the late Willie & Nellie Sullivan Shearer. He died Monday, December 1, 2014, in Columbia, Adair County, KY, at the age of 72 years, two months, and 14 days.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by six sisters, Hazel Wright, Pearl Sandefur, Opal Moore, Clara Whitaker, Jewell Hadley and Wilmoth Loy; and two brothers, Floyd and Boyd Shearer.

He was a U.S. Army Veteran serving during the Vietnam War; a member of Sparksville Baptist Church and a former welder at Majestic Yachts.

Survivors include:
  • His wife: Charlotte Kay Shearer of Columbia, KY

  • Two daughters: Ida & Sharon (Sherry) Shearer both of Columbia, KY

  • One brother: Jimmy Shearer of Chicago, IL

  • One grandchild: Stephanie Lynn Willis (Tyler Yates)

  • One great-grandchild: Carlett Willis
