COLUMBIA, KY - The 19th-ranked Lindsey Wilson women's basketball was victorious, 83-51, against visiting College of St. Joseph (VT) on Sunday, November 9, 2014, at Biggers Sports Center.

Facing a non-conference opponent in the Fighting Saints, the Blue Raiders (4-0) controlled the game from the early stages of play on their way to defeating St. Joseph (1-2).

Lindsey Wilson received 24 points from its reserves and also scored 19 points off of Fighting Saints' turnovers during the first half alone.

Those two trends, along with 19 St. Joseph turnovers and a 4-of-22 first-half shooting performance (.182) by the Fighting Saints, amounted to a 42-15 halftime edge for the Blue Raiders. St. Joseph did not convert a single field-goal attempt during the final 8:05 of the opening half.

Cassidy Martin paced Lindsey Wilson during the opening 20 minutes with eight points, including two successful three-point shots.

In the first half, Bre Elder had seven points while Kayla Richardson and Keosha Wisener both contributed three assists and two steals apiece. Alexus Chinn totaled three points, four rebounds and three steals for the Blue Raiders during the first 20 minutes of play.

Chontayvia Kennedy scored six first-half points for the Fighting Saints and also had three rebounds. Marshae Sterling pulled in four rebounds for St. Joseph.

During the second half, the Fighting Saints improved their shooting, converting 35.3 percent of their field-goal attempts (12-of-34) while also lowering their turnovers to seven in the final 20 minutes. These developments did not, however, change St. Joseph's fortune ultimately as Lindsey Wilson would amass as large of a lead as 44 points with less than 7:30 remaining in regulation en route to victory.

For the Blue Raiders, Elder finished with a team-high 14 points on 4-of-7 shooting, including 2-of-2 on three-point attempts. Elder was joined in double digits by Martin (10).

Deanna Downs had nine points for Lindsey Wilson, while Kayla Richardson totaled seven points, a team-best six assists and a pair of steals. Chanel Roberts had five points, a team-leading seven rebounds and two steals.

The Fighting Saints' Regina Steele led all players with 20 points and 12 rebounds as she shot 7-of-8 from the floor and also made six free-throw attempts. Steele also had three steals. Kennedy finished with 12 points, six rebounds and a pair of steals for St. Joseph.

Lindsey Wilson women's basketball was originally scheduled to play Lindenwood-Belleville (IL) on Thursday, November 13, 2014, in Columbia, Kentucky, but that game has been canceled and will not be made up.
