Voters advised to report problems before vote cast

When problems occur during balloting, Clerk Joyce Rodgers says, voter should tell poll worker before pulling lever or depositing paper ballot in reader. After that, it's too late for Election Officers to help.

By Ed Waggener

Adair County Court Clerk returned a call shortly ago with her assessment of the problems voters have faced.

She said, first of all, that voters who in the voting process should tell an officer at the poll of any problems before casting a vote.

"At that point," she said, "we can void the ballot and put in the spoiled file. But," she said, "once the ballot is cast there isn't any way to give the voter a partial ballot for the candidates not listed on the ballot they received."

In cases of problems, voters should call the County Board of Elections at the County Court Clerk's Office at these three numbers, 270-384-2801, 270-384-4007, or 270-384-4708.
