LWC Men's Basketball breezes past Ohio State-Mansfield, 101-50

Five Lindsey Wilson players scored double-digit points. Quentin Purtue, 17. Tony Horne, Julian Edmonson, and Bryan Wallace 10 each. D'on hall had 11 points. Blue Raiders shoot 54.3 percent from the floor en route to first victory of the season

COLUMBIA, KY - The Lindsey Wilson men's basketball team scored the first 21 points of the game en route to a 101-50 victory over visiting Ohio State-Mansfield on Sunday afternoon, November 2, 2014, at Biggers Sports Center.



Playing in their home opener, the Blue Raiders (1-1) finished with a 52-33 edge in rebounds and forced 24 Maverick turnovers. Conversely, Lindsey Wilson turned the ball over just 13 times.

It was all Lindsey Wilson early as the Blue Raiders scored the first 21 points over the opening seven minutes of play.

During this opening stretch, Lindsey Wilson shot 55.6 percent (10-of-18) from the field while Ohio State-Mansfield (0-1) missed its first 10 field-goal attempts and turned the ball over three times. The Mavericks eventually scored via a successful three-point shot by Timson Mitchell with 12:48 on the clock.

Later on in the first half, the Blue Raiders moved ahead by 22 points at 28-6 after Roderick Clark converted both of his free-throw attempts with 9:29 in the opening half.

Ohio State-Mansfield chipped away at the deficit and trailed by 16 following Markese Hicks' three-pointer with 3:44 left in the first half, making it 36-20 in favor of Lindsey Wilson. That 16-point margin marked the closest to Lindsey Wilson that the Mavericks would be for the rest of the day.

Overall, the Blue Raiders hit 38-of-70 field-goal attempts (.543) as well as an additional 23 free-throw attempts.

In all, five Lindsey Wilson players scored double-digit points.

Quentin Purtue scored a team-best 17 points on 7-of-12 shooting. He also had seven rebounds and a pair of steals. Tony Horne finished with 10 points, seven rebounds and three steals, while Julian Edmonson and Bryan Wallace scored 10 points apiece. D'on Hall had 11 points, and Kevin Bradshaw finished with nine points as well as a team-high nine rebounds.

Ohio State-Mansfield shot 29.4 percent from the floor (20-of-68) and attempted just four free throws. Hicks had a game-best 20 points, including six three-pointers. Austin Reid had nine points and Mitchell grabbed a half-dozen rebounds.
