Dorothy M. Carman, Casey Co., KY (1930-2014)

Mrs. Carman was a former seamstress for Cowden's and a housewife. She was a member of the Indian Creek Baptist Church. She was an excellent cook, enjoyed gardening, and was a lifelong reader and learner. She was a native of Casey County, KY, and a resident at the time of her death. She was the widow of Edward L. Carman. She was the daughter of the late George William and Martha Perry Frederick. She leaves 30 direct living descendants.

Dorothy M. Carman, of the Grove Ridge community, passed away on Saturday, November 1, 2014, at the Taylor Regional Hospital in Campbellsville, KY. She was 84.

Funeral services will be held at 10amCT/11amET, Tuesday, November 4, 2014, at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home, 752 Campbellsville Street, Liberty, KY. Burial will follow in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 5pm-8pmCT/6pm-9pmET, on Monday, November 3, 2014, at the funeral home.

Born Thursday, May 29, 1930, in Casey Co., KY, she was a daughter of the late George William and Martha Perry Frederick. She died Saturday, November 1, 2014, at Taylor Regional Hospital in Campbellsville, Taylor County, KY, at the age of 84 years, five months, and three days.

Mrs. Carman was a former seamstress for Cowden's and a housewife. She was a member of the Indian Creek Baptist Church. She was an excellent cook, enjoyed gardening, and a lifelong reader and learner.

Survivors include the following:
  • Her sons: Steve (Dawn) Carman of Kings Mountain, KY; Barry (Sondra) Carman of Danville, KY; Herbert (Shirley Browder) Carman of Russell Springs, KY; and Eddie Carman of Kings Mountain, KY

  • Daughters: Gail (Charles) Johnson of Campbellsville, KY; Joan (Colby) Arnold of Danville, KY; and Jessica (Steve) Benintendi of Cincinnati, OH

  • Brother: Bob (Ruth) Frederick of Kings Mountain, KY

  • Eighteen grandchildren

  • and five great-grandchildren
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, who passed away on November 6, 1985, Edward L. Carman; brother, Philip Frederick; and sister, Kathleen Patterson.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Indian Creek Baptist Church or to Gideon Bibles.
