She was a native of the Weed Community of Adair County, KY, and a resident of Louisville, KY,a the time of her death. She was the widow of George Garnes. She was retired employee of Brown & Williamson. A member of the Catholic faith, most recently attended the Hillsdale Baptist Church in Louisville, LU/ she was an active member of the women's auxiliary VFW and several other women's groups. She will be laid to rest in Adair County, near her native community of Weed in Western Adair County, KY.

Dorothy Roach Garnes age 82 year of Louisville, KY, formerly of Adair County. passed away Thursday October 23, 2014 at 7:30pmET, at Heritage Hall Nursing Home in Lawrenceburg, KY died from a long battle with cancer.

Funeral service is Saturday, October 25, 2014 at 1pmCT at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg Street, Columbia, KY. Interment in Moore Cemetery, 225 Prices Creek Road, Columbia, KY. Visitation is after 10amCT Saturday, at the funeral home.



She was retired employee of Brown & Williamson.

She was the widow of George Garnes.

She was born on Tuesday, March 25, 1932 in the Weed Community of Adair County, KY. She was step-daughter of Delcie Firquin Roach. She died Thursday, October 23, 2014, in Lawrenceburg, Anderson County, KY, at the age of 82 years, 6 months, and 29 days.

A member of the Catholic faith, most recently attended the Hillsdale Baptist Church in Louisville, KY. she was an active member of the women's auxiliary VFW and several other women's groups.

Dorothy was preceded in death by both parents and step-mother, her husband and two bothers Clell and Norman Roach.

She is survived by the following:
  • Two sisters: Louise Janes of Sparksville, KY and Janet Roach of Versailles, KY

  • One brother: Johnnie Roach of IL

  • Several nieces, nephews and a host of relatives and friends survive
In lieu of flowers, memorials suggested to Crusade for Children or Hospice of the Blue Grass & may be made at the funeral home.
