Byt Alan Reed, Supt. Adair County School Dristict

Please let Jim at Majestic Yachts, and other regional and state manufacturers, know that certified welders will soon on the way with Adair County High School's new Welding/Metal Fabrication shop and our satellite technology campus soon to be completed behind ACHS. We already have industrial concerns recruiting our students and we have just begun.

We will be posting some photos in a bit to let everyone know about the new MIG/TIG welding and plasma cutting and manufacturing program as a Career Path for ACHS students. Students who complete the program, taught by Barney Taylor, will be state DOT certified welders who will be in high demand.

The new Welding/Metal Fabrication component of our KY Tech satellite campus is being constructed behind ACHS and adjacent to the VoAg facility. The close proximity of VoAg and Welding/Metal Fabrication is wonderful since the two programs now work closely together and since both VoAg and Welding now operate under the same "umbrella" known as the Office of Career and Technology Education (OCTE) of the KY Department of Education.

We expect the new satellite campus to be fully functional by Christmas and we are planning a large open house so that the community can tour all of our Career Tech Ed facilities, including the new Health Sciences unit and other programs, after the Christmas break.

Stay tuned for more details! --Alan Reed
