LRC has online publication, Duties of Elected Officials Darryl Smith locates link to PDF answering Charles Marshburn's questions about what elected officials do Comments re article 70524 Job Descriptions for elected positions requested By Darryl Smith Almost everything your readers need to know about duties of elected officials can be found in a handy .pdf published by the Legislative Research Commission: Duties of Elected Officials - PDF by the Kentucky Legislative Research Commission. There are some interesting tidbits in there, for example: "The attorney general has cautioned that in counties where the justices of the peace work only part time in their official capacity, they may not qualify for the "rubber dollar"maximum salary and that the compensation of magistrates should be adjusted according to the number of hours devoted to county business during a normal week. Only where magistrates work full time at county business can the maximum salary be justified (OAG 77-774 and 82-16)." end quote. Some candidates also may not be aware that the number of work hours required by the County Employee's Retirement System to enroll in the state retirement and insurance plans is 100 per month. Just thought I'd toss that out there for your perusal. Regards, - Darryl Smith This story was posted on 2014-10-19 20:38:50
