Leeman D. Byrd, age 78, of Liberty, KY passed away on Saturday September 27, 2014 at V.A. Medical Center, Lexington, KY.

Funeral Services will be held at 12pmCT/1pmET, Wednesday October 1, 2014 at Bartle Funeral Home Chapel, 142 KY 49, Liberty, KY, with Bro. Brandon Wilson and Bro. Bud Stidham officiating. Burial will be in the Grace Baptist Cemetery. Visitation will be held 5pm-8pmCT/6pm-9pmET, Tuesday September 30, 2014 at Bartle Funeral Home Chapel.

He was born in Phil, Casey County, KY on Monday, December 2, 1935 to the late Freddie and Zellie Mae Lay Byrd. He died Saturday, September 27, 2014, in Lexington, Fayette County, KY, at the age of 78 years, nine months, and 25 days.

He was a gate salesman and a U.S. Navy Veteran.

Survivors include his spouse, Lucille Byrd of Liberty, KY, and the following:
  • One son: Jerry and (Sharon) Byrd of Liberty, KY

  • Two daughters: Terri and (Hart Jr.) Wallace of Liberty, KY; and Sandra and (Tony) Lawson of Blanchard, OK

  • One step son: Donald Skaggs of Liberty, KY

  • Four grandchildren: Nakesha and (Corey) Hagar, Magan and Kayla Byrd and Emily Lawson

  • Two step grandchildren: Danny and Sam Skaggs

  • Two great grandchildren: Kayln and Alyanna Fair

  • Two step great grandchildren: Leah and Maddy Skaggs

  • Two brothers: Lilburn Byrd of Science Hill, KY; and Harold Byrd of Erlanger, KY

  • Two sisters: Kathy Hines of Liberty and Shirley Luster of Cincinnati, OH
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by three brothers: Truman, T.C. and Murrel Byrd.
