Phillip Wayne Hadley, Adair County, KY (1942-2014)

He was a highly regarded citizen and a member of a large, distinguished Adair County, KY, family. He was the son of Edward Hadley and the late Ruby Grant Collins Hadley. His wife, Alice Upchurch Hadley, survives. He leaves three direct living descendants. Mr. Hadley was a member of the Columbia Baptist Church where he served on the Deacon Board for many years. He was a teacher for 34 years, he taught in all 12 grades during his career. He taught in Powell County, KY and at Casey County High School and 32 years in the Adair County School System. He was an avid farmer delighting in angus beef cattle. His favorite hobby was trail riding saddle horses. He cherished his time spent with his family and friends. He was a member of the Adair County Retired Teachers Association and a member of the Kentucky Cattlemen's Association and Adair Co. Cattlemen's Association.
Phillip Wayne Hadley, 71, of the Glens Fork Community of Adair County passed away Thursday, September 18, 2014 at 5:42amCT, at the Westlake Regional Hospital in Columbia, KY, after two years of illness.

Funeral services will be Saturday, September 20, 2014 at 1pmCT, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg Street, Columbia, KY. Clergy officiating will be Dr. Michael O'Neal, Rev. Donald Upchurch and Rev. Clifton Bennett. Interment in the Haven Hill Cemetery, 1276 Liberty Road, Columbia, KY. The family requests visiting after 2:30pmCT, on Friday, September 19, 2014, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home

He was born November 14, 1942 in Adair County, KY. He was the son of Ernest Edward Hadley and the late Ruby Grant Collins Hadley. He died Thursday, September 18, 2014 in Columbia, Adair County, KY, at the age of 71 years, 10 months, and four days.
Mr. Hadley was a member of the Columbia Baptist Church where he served on the Deacon Board for many years. He was a teacher for 34 years, he taught in all 12 grades during his career. He taught in Powell County, KY and at Casey County High School and 32 years in the Adair County School System. He was an avid farmer delighting in angus beef cattle.

He is survived by the following:
  • His father: Ernest Edward Hadley of Columbia, KY

  • His wife: Alice Upchurch Hadley of Columbia, KY

  • One son: Phillip Bruce Hadley and wife Leslie of Columbia, KY

  • One grandson: Jordan Bruce Hadley and fiance' April Davis of Columbia, KY

  • One granddaughter: Mallory Adeline Faith Hadley and one step grandchild Brody Scott Rodgers

  • And a host of other relatives and friends
