Men's and Women's Tennis win 3 titles at Blue Fall Raider Classic

Lindsey Wilson women takes doubles and singles title and men's doubles. Campbellsville University's Alejandro Soriano takes men's singles title.

COLUMBIA, KY - The Lindsey Wilson College men's and women's tennis teams hosted the Blue Raider Fall Classic on Sunday, September 14, 2014, at the Henry Baughman Tennis Complex, 299 Williams Street, Columbia, KY. The Blue Raiders won three of four titles at the three-day tournament.



In the men's doubles bracket, it was an all Blue Raider final. Francisco Charters and Edberg Espinoza defeated Ignacio Huertas and Raul Mendez by a score of 8-4 to take the event.

The women's team swept both the singles and doubles titles at the classic.

Alicia Rodriguez won in women's singles over Jessica King 6-2, 6-4.

Rodriguez and King would then team up and win the women's doubles title in another all Blue Raider final over teammates Ana Helena Pinto and Anna Gaprindashvili.

Alejandro Soriano from Campbellsville (KY) took home the men's singles title after winning 7-5, 4-6, 6-3 over Manuel Marcelo from Cumberland (Lebanon, TN).

Marcelo would knock out three-straight Blue Raiders (Pablo Vilches, Charters, Huertas) en route to the championship match. Soriano would defeat Denis Porcic 7-6 (4), 6-3, while Espinosa also lost to Soriano 4-6, 7-6 (4), 7-6 (4). -
