Agrees, mostly, with Dr. Ben Arnold on The Payroll Tax, jobs

Comments which follow in response to: Opinion: The Occupational Tax and Economic Development by Dr. Ben Arnold

By Ralph Roy Waggener
Personal commentary

In response to the Ben Arnold piece, I agree with most all he says.

It's time for us to get off our behinds and make some differences in Columbia.

We have spent our money on the wrong things here.

On not going after $10.00 per hour jobs, however, I disagree. On going for high paying jobs, of course we should. But we have to crawl before we walk.

Had it not been for the sewing factory jobs we have had from the 50's until recently, we would not have had the college graduates we have today.

Some people will work in a factory some will do hard work and run a farm and some will have moderate educations and a hand full will go on to draw big wages working in the field of their choice.

No, Ben we all can't be scientists; nor can all of us be farmers. We will find work that we like to do if we are smart, and enjoy life to it fullest! Thank you for printing your opinion. Most won't - Ralph Roy Waggener
