Hawes earns his 2nd-straight defensive player of the week honor LWC MEN's SOCCER - Blue Raider Aleksi Pahkasalo is offensive MSC Player of Week Click on headline for story with photo(s) By Charles Balcom News from Lindsey Wilson College COLUMBIA, KY - Dalyan Hawes and Aleksi Pahkasalo are the Men's Soccer Mid-South Conference Players of the Week, conference officials announced on Monday, September 8, 2014. Hawes earns his second-consecutive MSC Defensive Player of the Week honor while Pahkasalo earns his first honor of the season and second of his career. Pahkasalo scored a goal in each of the Blue Raiders' two wins last week to earn MSC Offensive Player of the Week honors. He previously earned the distinction last season during the week of November 4, 2013. The Vantaa, Finland, sophomore midfielder scored in the 78th minute to put the Blue Raiders on top 1-0 en route to a 2-0 win over No. 22-ranked Bethel (Tenn.) last Monday. Pahkasalo followed with his second game-winner in as many games on Saturday in a 2-0 win over Bryan (TN). Pahkasalo leads Lindsey Wilson with six total points on the year, with a pair of assists in the Blue Raiders' season-opening win over No. 8 Baker (KS). Hawes posted his second and third shutouts of the season for Lindsey Wilson to earn Mid-South Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week. The Johannesburg, South Africa, sophomore goalkeeper stopped the only shot he faced on goal against Bethel while collecting two saves in the win over Bryan -- who is receiving votes in the national poll. Hawes has not allowed a goal in his 270 minutes of play this season. He leads the conference in shutouts and is tied for the MSC lead with a 0.00 goals against average.
