Alleyne (Holladay) Danhauer, Adair Co., KY native (1929-2014)

She was a graduate of Columbia High School, Western Kentucky University, and UofL. She was a retired teacher at Jefferson County Public Schools, She loved travelling, tennis and bridge. She was a member of the Louisville Woman’s Club, Hurstbourne Country Club and Crescent Hill Baptist Church. She was an avid UofL Cardinal sports fan. She was hte widow of Edward Danhauer. She was a native of Adair County, KY, the daughter of the late Douglas and Bessie Holladay, and a member of a distinguished family. She was a sister of the late Corinne Holladay, Joe Holladay, Mary Hendrick, and Dr. James Holladay. Three of her siblings survive: Mae Harris, Ruth Wibking, and Ruby Tiller.

Alleyne (Holladay), of Louisville, KY, died on Wednesday, August 20, 2014 at Baptist Health.

Her funeral service will be at 10amCT/11amET on Saturday, August 23, 2014, at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Road, with burial to follow in Calvary Cemetery, 1600 Newburg Road, Louisville, KY. Visitation will be from 3pm-7pmCT/4pm-8pmET, on Friday, and from 9am-10amCT/10am-11amET, Saturday before the funeral, at Highlands.

She was born in Columbia, Adair County, KY, Friday, October 25, 1929. She was the daughter of the late Douglas and Bessie Holladay, She died Wednesday, August 20, 2014, in Louisville, Jefferson County, KY, at the age of 84 years, 9 months, and and 26 days.

She was a graduate of Columbia High School, WKU and UofL. She was a retired teacher at JCPS, who loved travelling, tennis and bridge. She was a member of the Louisville Woman’s Club, Hurstbourne Country Club and Crescent Hill Baptist Church. Alleyne was an avid UofL Cardinal sports fan. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Danhauer on August 15, 2009; siblings, Corinne Turner, Guy Holladay, Joe Holladay, Mary Hendrick, and Dr. James Holladay.

Alleyne is survived by sisters, Mae Harris, Ruth Wibking and Ruby Tiller; and was the beloved aunt of 21 nieces and nephews.

Expressions of sympathy may be made to Crescent Hill Baptist Church, St. Brigid Catholic Church, or Mass of the Air.
