LW Women's Soccer ranked No. 3 in NAIA Preseason Top 25 Poll Blue Raiders received 496 total voting points By Charles Balcom COLUMBIA, KY - The Lindsey Wilson women's soccer team starts the 2014 season ranked third in the NAIA Coaches' Preseason Top 25 Poll, NAIA officials announced on Tuesday, August 19, 2014. The Blue Raiders received 496 voting points. Defending champion Concordia (OR) sits atop the poll with 529 voting points and 18 first-place votes, while Westmont (CA) is ranked second with 511 voting points and the final first-place vote. Northwood (Fla.) sits at No. 4 with 475 points followed by Concordia (CA) at No. 5 with 461 voting points. Lindsey Wilson is coming off a 21-4-0 season in 2013. The Blue Raiders captured the Mid-South Conference Tournament title and advanced to the NAIA National Semifinals before falling to Concordia (OR) in double overtime. Lindsey Wilson has been ranked in the NAIA Coaches' Top 25 Poll for an NAIA-record 163 consecutive polls, including 133-straight appearances in the top 10. Cumberland (TN) also represents the MSC in the poll at No. 8 after receiving 403 voting points. Lindsey Wilson faces a tough opening stretch, in which five of their first six opponents are ranked. After the season opener against Auburn-Montgomery (AL), the Blue Raiders face No. 14 Spring Arbor (MI), No. 2 Westmont, No. 16 Olivet Nazarene (IL), No. 13 Martin Methodist (TN) and No. 7 Davenport (MI). The poll is voted on by a panel of head coaches representing each of the conferences, independents and unaffiliated groups.
