Tebb's Bend Bridge will be closed tomorrow

Old bridge will be removed, new one of similar design will replace it next year, according to Taylor County Judge Executive Eddie Rogers

By Larry Smith, FM 99.9 The Big Dawg

Taylor County Judge Executive Eddie Rogers has informed the Big Dawg Radio that the State of Kentucky has inspected and condemned the historic Tebbs Bend Road Bridge over Green River and Taylor County Road Crews will put barriers in place in the morning, Wednesday, August 20, 2014.

Judge Rogers said he got the word today. The old bridge will be removed and given to a nature conservancy group.

A new bridge, which will look much like the historic one it will be replaced, will be erected next year. The bridge will be custom made, with aesthetic design input from knowledgeable historians, including Taylor County historian, author and teacher Betty Jane Gorin Smith.

Smith initiated the road name change from Romines Loop to Tebbs Bend Road, when she requested the name change at Taylor County Fiscal Court many years ago. - Larry Smith, Operations Manager, Shoreline Communications
