Omer Donald Roy, 75, Russell Co., KY (1939-2014)

He was a native of Russell County, KY, and a resident of the county at the time of his death. Mr. Roy was a member and deacon of Pine Grove United Baptist Church on Gosser Ridge. He was the son of the lateOmer and Edna Gosser Roy. His wife, Paulette Wilson Roy, survives. He leaves 15 direct living descendants.

He worked as a carpenter and farmed for many years. Omer Donald Roy, age 75, of the Gosser Ridge Community of Russell County, KY, died Monday, August 18, 2014 at his home.

Funeral service for Omer Donald Roy will be 10amCT, Thursday, August 21, 2014 at the Bernard Funeral Home Chapel, 367 N Main Street, Russell Springs, KY, with Bro. Joe Gosser and Bro. Larold Gosser officiating. Visitation will be after 5:30pmCT, Wednesday, August 20, 2014. Interment is in the Pine Grove United Baptist Church Cemetery.



Pallbearers: Jerry D. Roy, Artis Roy, Victor Davis, Ben Roy, Jared Dalton, and Junior Blakey.

Omer Donald Roy, 75, Russell Co., KY (1939-2014)

He was born Thursday, June 27, 1939 in Russell County, KY. He was the son of the late Omer and Edna Gosser Roy. He died Monday, August 18, 2014, at his home in the Gosser Ridge Community of Russell County, KY, at the age of 75 years, one months, and 21 days.

Mr. Roy was a member and deacon of Pine Grove United Baptist Church on Gosser Ridge. He worked as a carpenter and farmed for many years. Survivors include his wife, Paulette Wilson Roy, and the following:
  • Son: Trent (Michelle) Roy, Russell Springs, KY

  • Three daughters: Jeannine (Stephen) Bennett; Johnna (Neal) Dalton, all of Russell Springs, KY; and Jamie (Nick) Shearer, Jamestown, KY

  • Nine grandchildren

  • Two great grandchildren

  • Two brothers: Morris K. (Sandy) Roy; and Harold Roy, both of Russell Springs, KY

  • One sister: Judy Gaskin, Russell Springs, KY
The family requests that expressions of sympathy be made to the Hospice of Lake Cumberland or the Gideon Memorial Bible Plan. These can be made at the funeral home.
