COLUMBIA, KY - Daniel Finn has been named head men and women's tennis coach at Lindsey Wilson College, athletics director Willis Pooler announced on Thursday, August 14, 2014.

Finn replaces Sachin Kirtane who resigned in late July to become the assistant coach at Mississippi State.

Finn returns to Lindsey Wilson after spending last season coaching at NCAA Division I Northern Iowa. He coached at Lindsey Wilson in 2012 leading the men and women to Mid-South Conference titles and appearances in the NAIA National Tournament.

"I would like to thank Willis and Dr. Bill Luckey for giving me the opportunity to coach at a place that I love," Finn said. "Lindsey Wilson is home to my family and we are thrilled to be back."

The Edmonton, KY, native was a member of the Lindsey Wilson men's tennis program from 2003-06. Following his playing career, Finn entered the coaching ranks as a student-assistant for the Blue Raiders.

As a men's head coach, Finn owns a 78-46 career record in five seasons. He is 42-49 in five seasons coaching women. Prior to coaching at Lindsey Wilson, Finn coached the men and women at Union (KY) for two seasons and the men for one season at Simpson (Iowa). Following his time at Lindsey Wilson, Finn coached one season at Alabama-Huntsville prior to taking the Northern Iowa position.

"Coach Finn's enthusiasm and knowledge of the game of tennis made him the clear choice to lead our men and women's tennis programs," Pooler said. "He experienced first-hand as a student-athlete the mission of Lindsey Wilson College and I'm confident in his ability to provide the current and future Blue Raiders with the same tremendous experience he enjoyed while he played here."

Finn earned 2010 NAIA East Region Men's Tennis Coach of the Year while at Union. He was voted by his peers as the Appalachian Athletic Conference Men's Tennis Coach of the Year in 2010 and 2011 and Mid-South Conference Men's Tennis Coach of the Year in 2012.

As a student-athlete, Finn helped the Blue Raiders win four Mid-South Conference championships on a team ranked regularly in the NAIA Top 25. Lindsey Wilson reached the quarterfinals of the 2005 NAIA National Championship.

Finn graduated from Lindsey Wilson in 2008 with a degree in recreation and physical education.

"I'm excited to continue to build on the great tradition here at Lindsey Wilson," Finn said. "My goal is to inspire our student-athletes to be better today than they were yesterday." Chris Wells, the writer of this article, is Sports Information Director, Lindsey Wilson College
