Viola S. May passed away Thursday, August 7, 2014 at the Liberty Care Center. She was 93.

Funeral services are 12pmCT/1pmET, Saturday, August 9, 2014 at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home, 752 Campbellsville Street, Liberty, KY. with Bro. Bruce Hiner officiating. Ms. She will be laid to rest in Glenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from 9:30amCT/10:30amET until funeral service.



Viola S. May, Casey Co., KY (1921-2014)

Born May 17, 1921 in East Bernstadt, Laurel County, KY, she was the daughter of the late James Walker Smallwood and Ida Wilson Smallwood. She died Thursday, August 7, 2014, in Liberty, Casey County, KY, at the age of 93 years, two months, and 21 days.

She was a homemaker and member of the Liberty United Methodist Church.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Edward O. May; brother, Cecil Smallwood; sister, Irene Ayers; and grandson, Jesse Ryan Dunn. Survivors include the following:
  • A son: James "Jim" L (and Mary) May of Waynesburg, KY

  • Two daughters: Brenda May of Liberty, KY; and Marcella Dunn of Somerset, KY

  • Three grandchildren: Emily Zink, Allison Horseman and Ashley Scott Dunn

  • Eight great-grandchildren

  • Sister: Ruth Pence of Stanford, KY

  • And special caregiver: Jean Hall
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Liberty United Methodist Church of Gideon Bibles.
