Driver faces numerous charges after near head on collison

Incident occurs early Sunday morning on MLK Boulevard. Driver arrested after brief chase; and now faces numerous charges. He was lodged in Taylor Detention Center.

From Campbellsville Police Department

On Sunday, August 3, 2014, at approximately 1:10amET, Officer Jacob Hedgespeth attempted to stop a vehicle which had almost struck him head on. The vehicle failed to comply with Officer Hedgespeth's emergency equipmen and would not stop.



After a short vehicle pursuit, Officer Hedgespeth was able to stop the vehicle being oerated by 44 year old John M. Smith of Campbellsville, KY. Smith was arrested and charged with DUI 1st, failure to wear seatbelt, no insurance, fleeing or evading police 1st degree (motor vehicle), and failure to notify Department of Transportation of address change. Mr. Smith was lodged in the Taylor County Detention Center in Campbellsville, KY. The incident occurred on Martin Luther Boulevard.
