CIJ is term for annual reunion

Click on headline for album from the 2014 CIJ, July 26-27, 2014

CIJ is the abbreviation for Adair County's Waggener clan annual Christmas in July reunion. It has been going on for a number of years. The gathering was held a year ago in Shelbyville and this year back at the home of Ricky and Mitzi Bault in Columbia again. Cousins are expected to attend from as far away as Indiana and Texas, and of course, it's almost mandatory that Kentucky coursins attend.

CIJ 14: Best gifts come with memories attached

2014-07-27 - Photo by Linda Waggener.
The best Christmas gift Mitzi Bault says she ever received was the little perfume bottle with the note from her mother, Fay McKinley, retired librarian and one who knows the added value that provenance gives to the antique. The note explains that the little bottle was a gift to Fay from her Aunt Opal Walker. The bottle and note lay on another precious keepsake. Mitzi said her dad, L.G. "Peanut" McKinley, sewed the potholder as a gift to his mother when he was a child in Russell County. The memories were shared as the annual Waggener family Christmas in July came to a close Sunday at the home of Ricky and Mitzi Bault.
