He was a native of Jefferson County, KY, a former resident of Adair County, and was a resident of Knob Lick, Metcalfe County, KY, at the time of his death. He was the son of the lat Emerson & Naomi Louise Abbott Ripley. He was the patriarch of a large, respected family. He was the widower of Genola Coomer Ripley. He leaves 30 direct living descendants. He was a member of Praise Assembly of God Church in Columbia, KY, a chef and had served his country in U. S. Navy

Charles Ripley age 80 years of Knob Lick, KY formerly of Columbia, KY, passed away Friday, July 4, 2014 at 2:51amCT, at T. J. Samson Community Hospital, Glasgow, KY. Funeral service Monday, July 7, 2014 at 11amCT, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg Street, 210 Greensburg Street, Columbia, KY with Rev. Clyde Conover the officiating clergy. Interment in the Weed Cemetery. Visitation will be after 4:30pmCT, Sunday, July 6, 2014.



Charles Ripley, Adair County, KY (1933-2014)


He was born on Wednesday, December 10, 1933 in Louisville, Jefferson County, KY. He was the son of the late Emerson & Naomi Louise Abbott Ripley. He died Friday, July 4, 2014, in Louisville, Jeffererson County, KY, at the age of 80 years, six months, and 25 days. He was preceded in death by his wife Genola Coomer Ripley, on January 25, 2013 also preceded in death by two sons, Mike & Greg Pickett and one brother, Bobby Devore.

He is survived by the following:
  • One daughter: Patricia (Terry) Willis of Columbia, KY

  • One son: Roger (Betty) Pickett of Knob Lick, KY

  • One brother: Larry Devore of Savannah, Georgia

  • Nine grandchildren

  • Eighteen great grandchildren

  • One great great grandchild

  • Several nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends
He was a member of Praise Assembly of God Church in Columbia, KY, a chef and had served his country in U. S. Navy.
