Darrell Treece heads Higbee R-VIII School District in Missouri

Former Superintendent Darrell Treece, who presided over the Adair County School District in a nine year period which saw the consolidation of the Adair County Schools onto one campus, the construction of Adair County Elementary School and the beginning of construction of the Adair County Primary Center in his 9 year tenure, has been called out of retirement to be superintendent in Missouri. He was scheduled to start July 1, but unforeseen circumstances necessitated full time there starting May 27. Father's Day was his last day as pastor of Russell Heights Baptist Church here, but Mr. Treece still calls Adair County his permanent home, he says in this article requested by the editor of ColumbiaMagazine.com for Mr. Treeces hometown following.

By Darrell Treece

I had promised to drop you a paragraph about my new endeavor. I was hired in March to begin on July 1 as superintendent of the Higbee R-VIII School District in Missouri. However, the outgoing superintendent had surgery on May 9 and was unable to return to work.

In mid-May, I was contacted to see if I would be available to start early and help close out this fiscal year which ends June 30. I actually began working May 27 and worked 2-3 days a week through June 20. I was back home on weekends and had my last service as pastor of Russell Heights on Fathers' Day.

I am now here full time. I have a 2-year contract here but we did not sell our Adair County home. Marilyn will "keep the home fires burning" and I will be home one or two weekends per month. Adair County is still our permanent home.

Thanks to you and all the people of Adair County for your cooperation during my nine years as superintendent there. As a friend of mine says, "if the good Lord\'s willing and the saints don't rise" I will be back in the Columbia/Adair County community soon! May God Bless You, Darrell Treece --Darrell Treece
