Lexington man arrested in alleged attempt to defraud UCB Suspect lodged in Taylor County Jail. Officer Ben Riggs is conducting ongoing investigation; Campbellsville Police work with KSP Posts in Columbia and London Click on headline for complete story By Anne Sanders, Campbellsville 911 The Campbellsville Police Department arrested a person on Thursday, June 19, 2014, allegedly involved in a fraudulent check cashing scheme. At approximately 4:21pmET, the Campbellsville Police Department received a call from United Citizens Bank reporting a man was attempting to cash what was believed to be a fraudulent check. Officers responded to the UCB at 294 Campbellsville Bypass (KY 210) and located Michael Paul Rison, 34, of Lexington, KY. According to police, the investigation revealed that Rison may have been in the cmpany of other persons who fled he area prior to officers arrival. Their identities remain unknown. Rison and his accomplices are alleged to have secured the banking infromation fram a company and subsequently manufactured business checks on that account for the purpose of cashing them at area banks. Campbellsville Police communicated with Kentucky State Police Posts in Columbia and Corbin concerning similar cases they were investigating involving similar circumstanes. Rison was arrested and lodged in Taylor County Jail on charges of criminal possession of a forged instrument. The case was investigated by Sgt. D. Tucker, Office B. Gilpin, and Officer Ben RIggs and remains under investigation by Campbellsville Police Officer Ben Riggs. - ANNE SANDERS This story was posted on 2014-06-23 08:46:46
