Former Lindsey Wilson Blue Raider Shearrow signs pro contract

Luke Shearrow joins the Chicago White Sox affiliate in the Arizona League

By Charles Balcom

COLUMBIA, KY - Former Lindsey Wilson baseball standout Luke Shearrow has signed a free agent contract with the Arizona League White Sox, a minor-league affiliate of the Chicago White Sox.

The 6-foot-4 pitcher from Machesney Park, IL, joins the White Sox in rookie ball of the 13-team Arizona League. The White Sox compete in the West Division along with affiliates from the Seattle Mariners, San Diego Padres and Texas Rangers.

During his one season at Lindsey Wilson, Shearrow posted a 4-3 record with a 3.15 earned run average in 16 appearances. He made ten starts with one complete-game effort. Shearrow recorded one save in his 74.1 innings pitched for the Blue Raiders. He finished the season with 59 strikeouts on the year, the second most on the team.

"I know this is a very exciting and anxious time for Luke and we are thrilled to be able to share it with him," said Lindsey Wilson head baseball coach Jonathan Burton. "Luke has the makeup to be a very good pitcher and we hope that he continues to grow while working towards his dream. There is no doubt in my mind that he will work very hard in achieving that goal." - CHARLES BALCOM, Lindsey Wilson College
