KSP/CVE investigating accident which closed LBN Pkwy LBN closed several hours today near Edmonton. Tractor trailer was eastbound near Edmonton, apparently experiened front tire failure and crashed. KY State Police were assisted by Edmonton Fire / Rescue, and KY Dept of Highways. Roadway was blocked most of the day. Cumberland Parkway will experience a lane closure for approximately 2 days while repairs are made By Jared Newberry, Public Affairs Officer Kentucky State Police Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Division and Post 15 Columbia, KY are currently investigating a commercial vehicle accident that closed the Cumberland Parkway for several hours. The accident occurred just before sunrise today, Monday, April 14, 2014, at approximately 7:35amCT, blocking the roadway until early afternoon. Preliminary reports indicate a loaded tractor and trailer was travelling east on the parkway just outside Edmonton, KY, when the operator experienced front tire failure. The combination vehicle left the roadway striking a guardrail and a bridge abutment before crossing the roadway; eventually striking the guardrail on the opposite side of the roadway. No other vehicles were involved and the operator was wearing his seatbelt. Senior Officer Casey Tooley is currently investigating the collision. The Cumberland Parkway will experience a lane closure while repairs are made for approximately 2 days due to the accident.
