One of the nice things about this area is that it is dry. I have lived in several places that are wet and the atmosphere is entirely different than living in a dry area. Yes, I know all the arguments; bootleggers, tax revenue, more money coming into the county, more tourist trade, etc. But that doesn't change the fact that the town will be changed and not all the ways will be positive. A liquor store and/or a bar is just that. They are there to sell their products just like any other business. When you consider the fact that their product can become addictive it should make people think twice about wanting to bring that type if business into town. We have a nice, clean town. We should want to keep it that way. This doesn't address the temptation of the college students who may be living away from home for the first time. We, as a town, have a responsibility towards those young people. --Martha Berry This story was posted on 2014-03-30 15:21:49
