The Adair County Indians bid for a regional championship and a trip to Rupp Arena ended last night when they fell to Bardstown 55-41 in a game that was much closer than the final score indicated. The Indians trailed 42-40 midway through the 4th period before the Tigers ended the game on a 12-1 run. The Tribe fell to 17-14 while Bardstown improved to 24-6.

The Tigers held leads of 15-11 and 33-23 after the first two periods. Freshman forward Chance Melton kept the Indians close scoring 14 first half points. Despite Melton having to sit most of the third period due to foul problems the Indians hung around and trailed 42-34 entering the final period. Senior point guard Matt Fudge and senior forward Jake Hixson combined to score nine points during the stretch.

Senior forward Ty Bennett knocked down back to back treys to start the final period as the Tribe cut the Tigers lead to 42-40. Unfortunately turnovers and missed shots plagued the Indians down the stretch as Bardstown pulled away. Melton led the Indians with 17 points and five rebounds. Rounding out the scoring were Bennett 6, Fudge 5, Zach Hutchison 5, Hixson 4, and Marshall Shelley 4. Jacob Pooler and Hixson both came away with 4 rebounds.

In Monday nights semi-finals Taylor County will battle E-town and John Hardin will take on Bardstown.

Freshman forward Chance Melton was named to the All 5th Region All Tournament Team.
