LWC Volleyball signs 5 for its 2014 recruiting class

Blue Raiders add 1 transfer and 4 high school signees expected to make an immediate impact

COLUMBIA, KY - Five new Blue Raiders will join the Lindsey Wilson volleyball team in 2014, according to head coach Andy Cavins who announced his recruiting class on Monday.

Joining Lindsey Wilson in the class is Caitlyn Tino (Defensive Specialist, Louisville [KY]), Catie Cline (Middle Blocker, Dallas [Texas]), Sophia Riviere (Outside Hitter, Temecula [CA]), Charlotte Wellens (Middle Blocker, TSV Vilvoorde [Belgium]) and Sarah Shilling (Outside Hitter, IU-East [IN]).



The group features one transfer student-athlete and four high school signees. Four players hail from different states while one is an international student from Belgium.
Tino joins Lindsey Wilson from Louisville Male High School where she was named the Defensive Specialist of the Year in 2011 and 2013.

Cline joins the Blue Raiders from Wyle East High School in Dallas, Texas where she collected numerous academic and athletic awards. She earned academic all-state honors three times, was named second-team all-district her junior year and first-team all-district her senior year and named to the academic all-state team.

Riviere comes from Temecula Valley High School in Temecula, CA, where she was a three-year varsity letter winner. She earned all-scholastic honors in 2011, 2012 and 2013 and was named all-league in 2012 and 2013.

Wellens joins Lindsey Wilson from TSV Vilvoorde in Belgium where the 6-3 middle blocker played for the Belgium Youth National Team.

Shilling joins the Blue Raiders for her final season of eligibility. The 6-0 outside hitter attended Indiana University East for her first three seasons where she was named an NAIA Scholar Athlete and three-time all Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (KIAC) performer.
"With the addition of Sophia and Sarah, combined with Nadelina Nesheva, Sarah Anderson and Daryna Liutikova, we will have the best core of pin hitters in the history of the program," LWC Volleyball Coach Andy Cavins said. - Charlie Balcom
