News from Lindsey Wilson College

COLUMBIA, KY - Former Lindsey Wilson men's basketball student-athletes Chase Spreen, DeAntra Scott and Wesley Hanspard have signed with the Bowling Green (KY) Hornets of the Central Basketball Association, team officials announced last week.

Spreen, a guard from Bedford, IN, played for Lindsey Wilson from 2008-2012, Spreen led the Blue Raiders in scoring his senior season, averaging 15.4 points and 4.5 rebounds per game. In the spring of 2013, Spreen signed with the MacKay Meteors of the Queensland Basketball League in Australia. Spreen played in eight games for the Meteors averaging 11 points.

Scott and Hanspard were members of the 2012-13 Blue Raider team that went 32-5 and advanced to the 2013 NAIA Fab Four.

Scott, a native of Gosnell, AR., averaged 11.8 points and 5.6 rebounds per game for Lindsey Wilson during his senior season. Hanspard a forward from Oakland, CA, averaged 8.7 points and 3.2 rebounds per game his senior season. Hanspard played two seasons for the Blue Raiders.

"It's great that these three chose our program, but it also shows how they developed in basketball, brought their skills here, developed them more and led us the past two years to conference championships and a third-place finish in the national tournament," said Lindsey Wilson head coach Paul Peck.

"These players continue to open doors for us and those guys are great ambassadors of Lindsey Wilson College. It's a great situation for them and hopefully we can continue to recruit those types of young men to keep us going."

The Hornets, who play in Russellville, KY, advanced to the 2013 CBA Championship game in their first season. Bowling Green is one of seven teams currently in the CBA. The league will expand by four teams for the 2015 season as it grows its following in the mid-south region. - Jay Nicols
