A response to Jarrett Miller criticism of local people

Comments in response to Jarrett Miller says community should open its mind

By Bill Troutwine
Personal Commentary

Mr. Miller, I have seen a good portion of this world, and lived most of my life far from here. I am here by choice. I chose Adair County (Columbia area) because it has far more to offer than you realize. For instance, the cost of living here is far less than most places. The freedom we have in comparison is far beyond other communities. If you decide to display a flag in your front yard no one is going to come by and tell you to take it down or go to jail because you are violating some stupid ordinance.

I value my personal freedoms much more than I am concerned that the road crew took two or three hours longer clearing the roads than the road crews in Louisville or Lexington or even E-town. The larger a city/county is the more resources they have to offer. The big question is how much are you willing to give up. Every time a government gives you more of something, they always take more of something else away. I chose Adair County/Columbia for a reason, and I pray it doesn't change. I like it just the way it is! - BILL TROUTWINE
