Danger doesn't end with arrests, he says. Jail employees have risky jobs, as well

Personal commentary

Dear Mr. Waggener

I enjoyed the commentary regarding police officers and the dangers they face and compensation in return. The police are doing a great job and deserve more than what they get.

I would like to put the light on a another area of law enforcement. The people that have done things to endanger the public as well as the police officers do not disappear after they are arrested.

They come to jail!

Not just one or two people who have commited crimes, but dozens are all in one place.

The deputies that work at the jail, many do not get hazard pay, we do have weapons, but we have to deal with the murders, rapists, child molesters, thieves, and whatever else is brought to the jail.

I do not wish to create a "us and them," mentality, but that we are all working together to serve and protect the people of Adair County. So we are grateful for the service of all law enforcement officers and say THANK YOU !!!
