Gov. Beshear: Packaging Unlimited expanding in Franklin, KY Company Adding 20 Jobs - Packaging solutions company adding 20 jobs, investing $2 million in equipment and upgrades; project is third announcement in three months for Franklin, located 1 hour 22 minutes - 90.1 miles, from Columbia, KY, according to Google Map Senator David Givens, (KY-9, Allen, Barren, Edmonton, Green, Metcalfe, and Simpson Counties) of Greensburg, KY, and represents the community in his district, happy about announcement: "I welcome this expansion for Packaging Unlimited, and am sure that our hard-working people and terrific quality of life played key roles in this decision to expand in Franklin," he said. Beshear's Communications Office FRANKFORT, SIMPSON COUNTY, KY (Aug. 12, 2013) - Governor Steve Beshear today announced Packaging Unlimited is expanding manufacturing operations in Franklin, adding 20 jobs and investing more than $2 million in the project. "Packaging Unlimited is a Kentucky success story, starting as a small business that has expanded tremendously and continues to grow and evolve," said Gov. Beshear. "We know these 20 jobs and $2 million investment will contribute a lasting impact on the Franklin community and our economy as a whole." Packaging Unlimited manufactures customized packaging for clients, including die-cut partitions, color cartons with hand holes and foam fabricating packaging. The company began in 1975 in Louisville, starting with only 20,000 square feet of rented space and two customers, but today has grown to include nine facilities in five cities throughout Kentucky and North Carolina. "We are extremely proud of the investment our corporation has made in our Franklin facility," said Tim Knight, plant manager for Packaging Unlimited. "The new equipment will allow our plant to be more efficient, have more capacity and provide a better quality product for our customers. The Franklin area is a great source for hard-working, productive employees, and we are glad to see our plant be able to grow in employee numbers and in overall sales." This is the third month in a row that Franklin has been the site of an announcement involving jobs and investment, with Focus Printing Solutions in June and MultiTech in July. Both of those companies announced new manufacturing operations in Franklin. "I welcome this expansion for Packaging Unlimited," said Sen. David Givens, of Greensburg.
