On Saturday, June 8, 2013, at 1pmCT/2pmET the Battle of Tebbs Bend-Green River Bridge 150th Anniversary Memorial Service will be held at the Confederate Cemetery on Tebbs Bend Road just north of intersection (Google Map/Directions) with New Columbia Road in Taylor County, KY.

Noted historian and author Kent Masterson Brown will make remarks as well as David Broene, of the Grand Rapids Civil War Round Table, representing the 25th Michigan. Re-enactors from 3rd Kentucky Infantry, CSA, and the 9th Michigan will be present.

A new stone for Confederate soldier Pvt. Frank Voss will be unveiled. A souvenir program will be available and the public is invited to attend. Following the 21-gun salute and Taps, light refreshments will be served. There is no admission fee.

Kent Masterson Brown, author of Retreat from Gettysburg and One of Morgan's Men: Memoirs of John M. Porter, will be addressing the crowd at the 150th Anniversary of Tebbs Bend.

An attorney and television personality as well as a member of the Gettysburg Foundation and Perryville Battlefield Board, Taylor County is fortunate to have Brown as one of the keynote speakers. David Broene, owner of Broene Furniture in Allendale, outside Grand Rapids, is also well known in Michigan circles for his educational programs on the Civil War.

Broene has been the program director for the Grand Rapids Civil War Round Table for several years. Colonel Moore's collateral descendant, John Cook of Knoxville, TN, will also attend, as well as descendants of the many of Morgan's Men.

With re-enactors from regiments from both north and south, it portends to be a very colorful day.
