Global War on Kentucky Denigration wins battle with New Yorker

Writer recalls politely educating a New Yorker about his misperceptions of modern Kentucky, but, looking back, thinks it would have been more appropriate to have jacked his jaw for bothering her with questions which showed his ignorance of our Great Commonwealth. Furthermore, than are miles of differences between the sorry, womanizing JR Ewing and our JR - Jimmy Reliford.

Personal Commentary

That ( Ralph Roy Waggener, Joyce Coomer said it right) is so right.

People from New York or live in New York do think that Kentucky is backward and ignorant.

I can remember once on a vacation we came in contact with this older man and his wife from New York, he had to ask me, "Do the women really run around barefoot, have kids at 12, the wife and husbands do not have teeth? is this a true fact, or not?

My answer to this man was "No, you have the wrong perception of Kentucky. The women work, are educated with master degrees, and work in the field/businesses normally meant for men and rarely does a girl have a baby at 12 ,and sir to your question or remark, we all wear shoes, don't you New Yorkers have shoes up north?" Thinking back I wished I had jacked his jaw for even bothering me with such dumb questions.

I am very proud of the backyard oilmen and no they do not need to wear suits like JR Ewing, our oilmen work poor. JR never worked at nothing but another woman or something to drink! Mary Ann Brown --Mary Ann Brown Comments re article 59146 Ralph Roy Waggener Joyce Coomer said it right
