COLUMBIA, KY - More than three dozen Lindsey Wilson College students participated in an event Wednesday night to raise awareness about sexual assault. The students took part in Take Back the Night, a 35-year-old national event that brings attention to sexual assault.

The students walked from the LWC Campus Quadrangle to the Adair County Justice Center, where they heard from Charles R. Lay, a sexual assault response coordinator for the Kentucky National Guard and a veteran who worked on the same issue when he was in the Army.

After returning to the LWC A.P. White Campus, the students concluded the event by launching 40 floating teal lanterns, which represented victims of sexual assault. The non-flammable, biodegradable objects were carried over the John B. Begley Chapel.

The event was sponsored by the Lindsey Wilson Student Government Association, LWC Women's Student Union and Adanta. - Duane Bonifer
