Cycling News from Lindsey Wilson College

COLUMBIA, KY - Lindsey Wilson College hosts the first Midwest Collegiate Cycling Conference Road Race event of the spring season this weekend on February 23-24. The two-day event consists of both individual and team racing.

The events taking place are the team time trial and the criterium races. The team time trial course is a 25-mile loop that consists of scenic views and large hill climbs beginning at 8amCT - Saturday, February 23, 2013 at Purdy Church, 8004 Liberty Road, Columbia, Ky. 42728. Racers compete against the clock and each other for the best times.

"Most of this course is beautiful, rolling farmland that is very lightly traveled,"said Lindsey Wilson head cycling coach David Grigsby. "Every mile of this ride is just gorgeous and we're really proud of it."

The criterium race is much shorter, only one kilometer, with a four-corner turn setup where speed and a fast start is the key. These races will take place on Sunday, February 24 at Adair County High School, 526 Indian Drive, Columbia, Ky. 42728.

The events kick off at 8amCT on Saturday with the team time trial road races. There will be seven total events on day one with races ranging in length from seven to 75 miles.

The six criterium races on Sunday range between 30 minutes in length up to one hour. - Charles Balcom
