Merle Wise, Taylor County, KY (1922-2013)

He was the patriarch of a highly regarded Taylor County, KY, family. His marriage to Juanita Sullivan Wise, who survives, endured for over 63 years. He leaves 33 direct living descendants. He professed faith in Christ and was a member of South Campbellsville Baptist Church where he was a Deacon for many years. He was a member for many years of the Andy Bowen Masonic Lodge and Gideons International.He was a veteran of World War II, having served his country honorably in the United States Army. He was awarded the Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon with two Bronze Stars, Phillipine Liberation Ribbon with one Bronze Star, the Good Conduct Ribbon and the Victory Medal. He was a self employed businessman in Campbellsville for 70 years.

Merle Wise, 90, of Campbellsville, KY died at 7:38pmET, Thursday, February 14, 2013, in Campbellsville, KY.

Funeral services are at 1pmCT/2pmET, Sunday, February 17, 2013 at South Campbellsville Baptist Church, 601 S Central Ave Campbellsville, KY, by Rev. Shaun Caudill. Burial will be in Campbellsville Memorial Gardens, 3878 Greensburg Road, Campbellsville, KY. Visitation will be 4pmCT/5pmET to 7pmCT/8pmET at the funeral home.



Pallbearers: Allison Frazier, Connor Wise, Beth Gaines, Dylan Wise, Jessica Huntt, Justin Wise, Tiffany Kane, Lindsey Wise, Amanda Mueller, Michael Wise, Brian Wise, Rob Wright, Chris Wise, and Russ Wright.

Merle Wise, Taylor County, KY (1922-2013)

Merle Wise was the son of the late Forrest Wise, Sr. and Ruby Childs Wise. He was born in Taylor County, KY, Monday, July 24, 1922. He died Thursday, February 14, 2013, in Campbellsville, Tayor County, KY, at the age of 90 years, 6 months, and 21 days.

He professed faith in Christ and was a member of South Campbellsville Baptist Church where he was a Deacon for many years.

He was a member for many years of the Andy Bowen Masonic Lodge and Gideons International.

He was a veteran of World War II, having served his country honorably in the United States Army. He was awarded the Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon with two Bronze Stars, Phillipine Liberation Ribbon with one Bronze Star, the Good Conduct Ribbon and the Victory Medal.

He was a self-employed businessman of Campbellsville for seventy years. He united in marriage to Juanita Sullivan April 30, 1949.

Besides his wife, Juanita Wise, he is survived by the following:
  • Three sons and three daughters: Forrest W. Wise and wife, Judy of Cave City, KY; Dianna Mueller and husband, Chris of Munfordville, KY; Mark Wise and wife, Becky, Denise Wise and Brad Wise and wife, Angie of Campbellsville, KY; and Dawn Wise of Lexington, KY

  • Fourteen grandchildren: Beth Gaines, Brian Wise, Rob Wright, Russ Wright, Allison Frazier, Chris Wise, Lindsey Wise, Michael Wise, Dylan Wise, Tiffany Kane, Justin Wise, Connor Wise, Jessica Huntt and Amanda Mueller

  • Thirteen great grandchildren: Anderson Wise, Sean Frazier, Emily Frazier, Johnathan Wright, Julia Wright, Austin Wright, Ashley Wright, Nicholas Huntt, Katelyn Huntt, Ellie Huntt, Raylee Mueller, Ashton Adams and Ally Adams

  • One brother and two sisters: Carl Ray Wise and wife, Mildred of Lexington, KY; Anna Lee Johns of Campbellsville, KY; and Beulah Smothers of Keenansville, FL

  • Several nieces and nephews

  • and many other relatives and friends.
He was also preceded in death by two brothers and one sister, Norman Bradley Wise, Forrest Wise, Jr. and Doris Jean Magers.

The family requests expressions of sympathy be donations to Gideon Bibles and may be made at the Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home. Send a condolence to the family of Merle Wise
