Guest editorial: Keep the momentum going

By Doug Beard

Over the past month as I have driven through Columbia and Adair County, I have thoroughly enjoyed the sights and sounds of the season that I have experienced. I think that our area has presented the grandest display of Christmas grandeur that I have seen for many years.

It seems that our residents have the spirit of the holiday season and have adorned their homes in a celebratory fashion that should make everyone proud of our south central Kentucky home.

One area that really shines this year is our public square and the surrounding neighborhood. This was certainly due in large part to the restoration of the southeast corner of the square. The Red Brick Studio and additional facade enhancements that have been implemented are a wonderful addition to our city. I would personally like to thank the property owners for their dedication in making our square much more attractive.

I hope that this will inspire other property owners to evaluate ways to improve their structures. A little imagination and creativity, small construction enhancements, and a little change in paint schemes, can certainly give us a town that we can all be proud to call home.

We have some great things going for us in Columbia and Adair County. Let's keep the momentum going!!
