Jamestown, KY man airlifted to UK following W 80 accident Single car accident halts traffic for about one hour. Search for other victims called off after authorities learn from family members that driver was by himself on the trip By Adair Co. Deputy Adam Cravens News from the Adair County Sheriff's Office A Jamestown, KY, man was airlifted to University of Kentucky Medical Center from Westlake Regional Hospital In Columbia, KY, after being taken there following a one vehicle accident which halted traffic on Edmonton Road/West KY 80, Columbia, KY, for about an hour last night, Tuesday, December 18, 2012. Daniel Jones, Jamestown, KY, was driving a 2000 Oldsmobile Intrigue, headed towards Edmonton when it is believed he lost control of it before colliding head on with a concrete guardrail of the bridge at the foot of Bliss Hill, in the Bliss Community of Adair County. The force of the impact then sent the vehicle to the opposing lane where it hit the opposite guardrail and came to a stop. Adair Fire and Rescue responded to the scene along with Adair County Deputy Sheriff Adam Cravens. Jones had to be extracted from the vehicle by the Adair County Fire department and was transported to Westlake Regional Hospital via ambulance and then was immediately flown to UK for treatment. Adair County Search and Rescue, Adair County Fire Department and Adair County Sheriff's staff searched area for possible passengers thrown from the vehicle after a loose car seat was found inside the vehicle. Contact was later made with Jones' wife who confirmed there were no children or other passengers with Jones at the time of the accident. Traffic was halted in the area for about an hour. - ACSO Deputy Adam Cravens This story was posted on 2012-12-19 03:29:09
