John Adair Intermediate reviews, improves student safety

Receptionist desk moved for better visibility of incoming visitors, school doors locked during day to incoming visitors, emergency drill held today
We do not intend to inconvenience anyone, but want all to realize that student safety is our top concern - KIM GOODIN

News from John Adair Intermediate School

Due to the recent school tragedy in Connecticut, John Adair Intermediate reviewed and emphasized procedures in place for student safety. Our receptionist desk was moved to provide better visibility of incoming visitors. All school doors, including the front door, will remain locked throughout the day. We have installed a doorbell at the front, which visitors must use in order to gain access into the front lobby.

The front door will remain locked each day until 2:20pmCT, at which time parents will be allowed in to sign out children. We advise parents to wait until this time before expecting entry into the building. We also conducted an emergency drill. We hope that parents will remind their children that even drills are to be taken seriously.

Parents are welcome in our school. But due to more stringent safety procedures, we ask that parents check with their children each morning before coming to school to make sure they have everything they need for the day. This is to help reduce the amount of traffic in and out of our school.

We do not intend to inconvenience anyone, but want all to realize that student safety is our top concern.

The flag reminds us

2012-12-17 - Stapp Hall, 102 University Drive, Campbellsville, KY. - Photo by Linda Waggener, CU photo. The sky is dark and thunder is rolling as the lighted flag in front of Stapp Hall on the Campbellsville University campus flies at half staff, snapping so hard in the wind that it appears out of focus in this photo. The university joins the whole country in mourning with the families and community of Newtown, CT, around the massacre at Sandy Hook Elementary School. The storm will pass but the discussions of how to protect America's innocents are just beginning. -- Linda Waggener
