KY Tax Reform Commision adverse impact on retired seniors

The KY Tax Reform Commission, chaired by Lt. Gov. Abramson has issued their first report recommending revisions to the Kentucky sales tax and will be issuing their second report with recommendations regarding the KY Income Tax under the current Kentucky Tax Code by December 15, 2012.

Retired seniors living on pensions, beware. One of the Kentucky Tax Code revisions under consideration is the elimination or greatly reducing the Kentucky Income Tax Pension exclusion. This will have an adverse impact on retired seniors living on a pension. The result would be that all or a large portion of your pension will be subject to the Kentucky Income Tax. It would be extremely unfair to Kentucky retired seniors to reduce or eliminate the current Kentucky Income Tax Pension exclusion.

Strongly suggest that all retired seniors on pensions contact our Kentucky General Assembly Senator and Representative and ask them to monitor the proposed revisions to the Kentucky Tax Code and vote No on any bill that changes the Kentucky Income Tax Pension exclusion. Thank you, -Dan Thies, Gradyville, KY
