By John Walker, AYDC Instructor
News from Adair Youth Development Center Teachers, residents, and staff honored our AYDC heroes (veterans) on Thursday, November 15. We gathered in the gymnasium to remember their achievements, courage, dedication, and sacrifices they made by serving in the United States Military. After a brief presentation by Mr. Gerald Hadley, the teachers presented our veterans with coffee mugs that displayed the American Flag.

We were also very fortunate to have had a very special veteran to come to AYDC and speak to our students. Mr. Edgar Holmes talked to each class about the Korean War and World War II. He also spoke about the depression and the perils that he and his family faced during these very difficult times in American history.

Students asked Mr. Holmes many question and he graciously answered with aptitude and conviction, as only he could. Teachers at AYDC want to send a heartfelt "Thank You" to Mr. Edgar Holmes for visiting our facilities and enlightening our students!

AYDC veterans/heroes honored were Ryan McQueary, Greg Burchett, Jason Bradshaw, Chris Gadberry, Jeff Arms, Larry Johnson, and Bradley Jones. Russell Hunt and Michael Mangum - John Walker
