LWC Women's Soccer Shuts Out Park 4-0 in NAIA Opening Round Attendance for opening round NAIA National Playoffs, 110 Next: Lindsey Wilson Women's Soccer vs. Ashford (Clinton, IA) At 11amCT, Monday, November 26, 2012, at the Orange Beach Sportsplex, Orange Beach Sportsplex, 4389 Pub Works Road, Orange Beach, AL. COLUMBIA, KY - It's on to Orange Beach, AL, for the Lindsey Wilson College women's soccer team as it shut out Park (Parkville, MO) University 4-0 on Saturday afternoon in the opening round of the NAIA National Championship at Walter S. Reuling Stadium, 151 Holloway Drive, Columbia, KY The second-seeded Blue Raiders got their game-winning goal in just the fourth minute as Elizabet Madjarac fired a pass from the far, right sideline to Laerke Lillelund Michaelsen inside the penalty box. Michaelsen shifted past a diving defender before kicking the ball into the back of the net. Thirty six minutes later Lindsey Wilson struck again, and this time it was Madjarac scoring the goal. Therese Hagbyhn set up the pretty play with a cross into the box from the right side. Madjarac met the pass with a perfectly timed slide to drill the ball home. Leading 2-0 at halftime, the Blue Raiders got a gift for their third goal as Park goalkeeper Ellen Ghirardi let a miss-hit ball roll underneath her clearance-kick attempt for an own goal in the 48th minute. Madjarac earned her second assist of the day for the final goal as she and Mia Persson hooked up for a give-and-go play streaking down the middle of the field. Once Persson received the pass she had just the keeper to beat as she sent her shot to the far post. Persson is just one-goal shy of tying the all-time program record with 68. Jill Lirbank-Almbaek holds the record with 69 goals. Shots went in favor of Lindsey Wilson 19-8, including a 10-3 advantage in shots on goal. Michaelsen and Madjarac each out three shots on frame, while Park was led by Junelle Watkins with six shots, three of which were on goal. The Pirates were called for eight fouls, compared to seven for the Blue Raiders, while Lindsey Wilson dominated corner-kick chances 13-1. Josephine Frigge stayed in goal for 84 minutes before giving up the keeper spot to Loren Cerafice as the pair combined for the postseason shutout.
