LWC Men's basketball dominant in 94-64 Homecoming win Raiders have balanced scoring with five players in double figures Click on headline for story with photo By Dan White COLUMBIA, KY - Depth for a basketball team is a scary thing, and the 2012-12 edition of Lindsey Wilson College men's basketball has plenty of it as 23 minutes were the most played by any player in a 94-64 romp over Virginia-Lynchburg in exhibition play on Friday, November 2, 2012. Biggers Sports Center was electric at times as five Blue Raiders reached double figures scoring, including a multitude of dunks in the paint. DeAntra Scott led all scorers with 14 points, while Wesley Hanspard and Kalen Kimberland each chipped in 12 for the Blue Raiders. Also reaching double figures were Chase Cox with 11 points on three 3-pointers and big-man Milton Watts with 10 points, five rebounds and three blocks. Daronte' Clark led all rebounders with seven and finished with eight points. Virginia-Lynchburg was led by Linas Janenas with 12 points and four assists as his outmatched Dragons couldn't compete with Lindsey Wilson's arsenal of athletes as they shot just 42.1 percent from the field. Hanspard stayed on the court the longest for the Blue Raiders with nearly 24 minutes, but other than him 12 other players logged at least five minutes. Lindsey Wilson shot the ball well in its season opener, hitting 52.9 percent from the field and 41.7 percent (10-of-24) from behind the arc. Free throws were a different story, showing a need for improvement with a 10-for-22 showing to finish at 45.5 percent. Despite playing against 7-0 center Egor Shakhmetov (six rebounds), the Blue Raiders won the rebound battle 39-36. Lindsey Wilson outscored the Dragons 50-32 in the paint and 44-19 off the bench. Lindsey Wilson opened the game on fire, using back-to-back threes from Cox and Clark to take a 10-1 lead. Va.-Lynchburg fought back, trimming the lead to seven with nine minutes to play in the half, but failed to continue the run to enter halftime down 44-27. The Blue Raiders led by as many as 32 points in the second half after a 3-pointer by reserve Shaquille Wilson and stayed in control to tally the 30-point final margin. Next Lindsey Wilson Men's Basketball vs. Cincinnati Christian Regular-season opener at 7pmCT on Saturday against Cincinnati Christian in the Union College Classic, at Union College's Robsion Arena, 310 College Street, Barbourville, KY.
