City of Columbia Flag project adds more names

Donations reach over 20% of initial needs goal

News from City of Columbia

Columbia Mayor Mark D. Harris announced in the July, 2012 meeting of the Columbia City Council that private donations for American Flags for display on the streets of Columbia would be accepted. Enough money to buy 200 flags is needed, with continuous donations needed to sustain the fund.

As of 9/21/12 our total donations are $1050.00, enough for 42 flags. Added August 11, 2012 - September 21, 2012:
  • Ann Melton - 2 Flags, In Memory of Herman Melton and In Honor of Gary Melton
  • Irene S. Love - In Memory of my brothers: M/Sgt. Joe C. Sparks WWII 1922-2005, Cpl. William A. Sparks WWII 1925-2009, Cpl. James H. "Jiggs" Sparks Korea 1931-2001
  • Mike and Mila Newton - In Honor of Willard Newton Korean Conflict
  • Mike and Mila Newton - In Memory of Garvin Bolin
  • Jewell Hare - In Memory of Lacy Hare
  • Jewell Hare - In Honor of Joe Hare
  • Ralph or Glinda Waggener - In Memory of Staff Sgt. Arthur Lee Waggener
Donations of $25 per flag are requested: Donations may be made at City Hall, 116 Campbellsville Street, Columbia, KY, or by mail to: Flag Fund, c/o Rhonda Loy, City Hall, 116 Campbellsville Street, Columbia, KY 42728. The Phone at City Hall is 270-384-2501.
City of Columbia is taking private donations for Flag Fund : Master List with all Donors Names
