Westlake Regional Hospital: Two angels watched over him

Prayer and an air trip to UK Medical Center let him live to tell about it. He plans to be at the Prayer Walk for Westlake this afternoon. It's at Westlake Regional Hospital, 901 Westlake Drive, Columbia, KY, at 4pmCT, Sunday, August 19, 2012, sponsored by the Adair County Ministerial Association at the main entrance to the hospital and is open to the public

By Doug McCammish

Some folks know that, on a Saturday morning in January, 2011, I went to Westlake ER for some help with side effects of a "sinus headache." Thanks to a caring staff, especially two "angels" named Wanda and Carolyn who prayed for me and called others to pray, the real problem was recognized and I was airlifted to UK and treated and lived to tell about it. I am one of many, I'm sure, who have been thankful to have WRH and its staff close by.

At the same time, I don't know "squat" about running a hospital. I have been in position to deal with safety and health regulators in my career and I am sure that just that part of the administrator's job at any hospital must be overwhelming. I don't see any easy solutions. I don't see any hard solutions that I'd rush to support. I have concluded that we need help from God (we always do) and so I plan to be at the prayer time Sunday afternoon. I hope there are a bunch of us. Where two (or more) are gathered in His name . --Doug McCammish

2012-08-19 - 901 Westlake Drive, Columbia, KY - Photo by Ed Waggener. The Depth of Sentiment for Westlake Regional Hospital was evident in turnout for the event which started less than one-half hour ago as this is posted. Most parking spaces around the hospital were taken, and the gathering, organized by the Adair County Ministerial Association, drew well over 200, according to Fourth District Magistrate Perry Reeder, who was among those in attendance.
