Do we need a hospital or a HOSPITAL?

By Jon Halsey
Personal opinion of the writer

I can't shake the uneasy feeling that we haven't learned a thing from the recent and disastrous missteps.

Most folks who when realizing that they need a vehicle will sit down, take a deep breath and decide what their NEEDS are and then try to find a vehicle that will best meet those needs.

Utility, price and upkeep are usually at the top of the list. Color, style and keeping up with the neighbors may have the most emotional pull but eventually lose out to sound decisions.

Unfortunately, I don't see or hear any discussion concerning what would best serve the community other than "OMG - We have to have a hospital!" Of course we do. But please let's use this opportunity to get input from Doctors and Health Care officials, who DO NOT have a vested interest in outcome, as to what type of facility would best serve our community today and in the realistic next 20 years or so. We can then and only then begin to create a plan to make it happen.

The overly emotional knee-jerk reactions is part of the reason we are where we are today.
