Surfing Safely Online for Seniors at AC Library July 19, 2012

There will be a seminar, Surfing Safely Online for Seniors at the Adair County Public Library, 370 Greensburg Street, Columbia, KY, at 11amCT, Thursday, July 19, 2012, instructed by Kelli Claypool. The seminar is free, but space is limited. The phone to pre-register is 270-384-3472.


Claypool says, "The Internet is a powerful tool and when used correctly, it opens up a whole new world of exciting opportunities. Unfortunately, sometimes those opportunities are taken advantage of by criminals seeking to gain access to your personal information. You need to be proactive in protecting your identity, your banking information, and other personal information while surfing the Internet."

The goals of the 1-hour workship are to teach seniors safeguards for email, how to buy safetly from websites like eBay.com, Walmart.com, and Amazon.com; how to maintain updated versions of anit-virus and anti-spyware software, and what phishing means and how to avoid being a victim.

Claypool added, "This workshop will be taught in an easy-to-understand format and you will walk away feeling empowered to take control while on the Internet."
